Former Spurs Pub To Reopen After A Three-And-A-Half-Year Closure And £555,000 Revamp

A former Spurs fans’ haunt, The Ship pub on Tottenham High Road, is set to reopen in early November following a £555,000 joint investment by Heineken-owned Star Pubs and North London pub operator Enda Murray. The pub has been closed since February 2023.
Building work starts on 14th September, and eight jobs will be created when the pub reopens.
A short walk from the stadium, The Ship will become an event-focused, family-friendly local – a great place for people to enjoy a drink and entertainment before or after visiting the stadium, whether for football, rugby or concerts. Match days will be a big draw, with live entertainment helping to create a vibrant, fun atmosphere.
The plan is to host regular live music and entertainment, a pub quiz and live sports on Sky and TNT Sports. Customers will be able to view a screen from anywhere in the pub. Live music will start a couple of weeks after the pub opens, making it the perfect spot for those looking to enjoy the run-up to Christmas.
The sympathetic refurbishment will retain the pub’s late Victorian character. The layout will consist of a ground floor with a light and airy bar and a first-floor function room. The downstairs bar will feature a central bar counter and an eclectic mix of freestanding high- and mid-height seating for 48 people.
There will also be a sports area with a new pool table featuring an electronic payment system and a darts zone with halo-lit darts and an electronic scorer. Four new high-definition TVs will be installed on the ground floor. Timber flooring, renovated original glazed wall tiles, globe-style opaque glass hanging pendants and Art Nouveau-style framed posters will complete the look. The toilets will also be upgraded with new mirrors, vanity units and flooring.
Outside, the façade will be refreshed, with the green wall tiles refurbished, new etched-glass windows installed, and new signage and gold lanterns fitted to give the pub a smarter look.
The secret garden at the rear of the pub, which will seat up to 80 people, will also be given a makeover, with the covered area and railway arches renovated, two external TVs installed, and planting and festoon lighting added to create a tranquil atmosphere.
When it comes to drinks, there will be something for all tastes and budgets, including a wide selection of premium wines, beers and ciders, as well as fresh coffee.
Enda says: “I loved the look of The Ship from the moment I first saw it. It’s got a lovely, authentic Victorian exterior featuring beautiful glazed wall tiles. I am delighted to be breathing new life into the pub, especially when so many fail to reopen once they’ve closed.
“I am a sports fan, so I am thrilled to have a pub so near to the stadium, which will play a big part in the pub’s future, including being a hub for match-day fans.
“I am also keen for The Ship to play an integral part in the local Tottenham community. We’ll help out where we can and support local charities.”
Steve Morris, Star Pubs’ Business Development Manager, adds: “We are delighted to be supporting Enda in reopening The Ship. He’s a very experienced operator, having worked in the industry for 16 years, and has a couple of other popular North London pubs, which continue to thrive at the heart of their communities. I am confident he’ll work his magic again and create a wonderful Tottenham local.”
