Extensive refurbishment Planned

A total transformation will aim to turn the bar - which is currently called Scruffy Murphy's but will be renamed - into one of the best places in which to eat and drink in Birmingham.

In a fantastic location, the pub is situated in Dale End, which sees high footfall throughout the day. The site is well located for local offices and the nearby law courts, while it will benefit from a large new apartment block nearby, which is scheduled to open in November this year. The site will also be near to the HS2network hub.

The varied demographics of the area will mean that the pub will appeal to a variety of customers, Including office workers and passers-by during the day. It is also next door to the student union and is only minutes away from the Birmingham City University campus, so it should prove popular with students. During the evening and over the weekend this cool and trendy venue will be attractive to the up-and coming trendsetters of the local Birmingham scene.

A great range of beers and ciders will cater to all types of consumers and will be complemented by an eclectic food offer to match. The 'chameleon' venue will be able to change its offer to reflect various trading periods over the course of the day. A fabulous interior 'Urban Garden' will produce an oasis in the city and create a real point of difference in comparison to the local competition.

Trading Area & Facilities

Internally

An eclectic mix of styles will appeal to a younger audience and a zonal system on the ground floor will appeal to groups as well as singles and couples. The Bohemian style will expose services and materials where necessary, and the creation of a mezzanine level will increase covers and provide an urban garden experience. Works will include, A new function room with sliding doors and glazing will be formed in the basement for private dining/meetings. A full refurbishment of the main trading area will take place. This will include the addition of new floor/wall/ceiling finishes, as well as new lighting, furniture and bric-a-brac. A new split-level mezzanine 'Urban Garden' terrace will be incorporated. This will include new decking, fixed seating and decorative metal gates, with space for 44 covers. The kitchen will have a complete refurbishment. The women's toilets will be relocated to the basement, while the men's will be retained in their existing basement position. The ladies will have a full refurbishment and the men's toilets will be retained as existing. Our state of the ark Smart Dispense system will be installed in the cellar.

Externally

A small external drinking area will be located to the front entrance, with planting and graphics providing a nod to the Urban Garden inside. New signage and lighting will help to create a new identity and give the venue a memorable edge.
