The Vic, Lostock Hall reopens after five week closure

Elizabeth moved to Lostock hall in the 1970s and has been a regular of The Vic ever since, celebrating her 40th, 50th, 60th and 70th birthdays at the pub as well as meeting her husband, John, there. She has worked on and off at The Vic for nearly 30 years and has been a consistent member of staff since 2003. Over the years Elizabeth has been joined on the team by her children and grandchildren and is currently working with her daughter, Delores. “I felt at home in the Vic straight away and that’s never changed. It’s always had a fantastic atmosphere and now it has got a fantastic look to match,” said Elizabeth.

Outside the pub has been repainted and renovated with new seating and planting adding to its appearance. Disabled access has also been improved.

Inside The Vic has been completely refurbished in a contemporary style with exposed brickwork as well as new toilets, furniture and decorations reflecting its focus on sports and live music. A games room has been created complete with darts and pool, six big screens installed throughout the pub and BT Sports added alongside Sky. A dedicated performance area has also been put in so that musicians are visible from throughout the pub.

The investment includes a new pizza oven and barista coffee machine. The pub’s opening hours have been extended to 12pm and coffee and freshly made pizzas will be served throughout the day.

Licensees Ian Molyneux, Kevin Franklin and Kelly Moran took over The Vic 12 months ago. “I’ve managed pubs in Lostock Hall in the past and loved it. It’s a really friendly village and it’s a dream come true to have a pub here again,” says Ian.  “The Vic was tired and needed TLC and investment. We’ve given it lots of TLC over the last year and are delighted it has now got the investment too. We’ve not tried to change the essence of The Vic, just make it even better and we hope the community likes it.”

David Pritchard, Star Pubs & Bars Operations Director said: “The Vic is a well loved local and we’re delighted to have worked with Ian, Kevin and Kelly to give it a new lease of life. It looks great and is comfortable and welcoming with the quality food and coffee pub goers now want.”
