Daily training sessions introduced at the award-winning Elephant Pub and Bakehouse, Liverpool over Christmas to ensure exceptional standards and wow first time customers, proved such a success they’ve become a permanent fixture. Lasting up to eight minutes, the interactive sessions cover one “obsession” that manager Richard Thomson wants staff to focus on that day. Topics rotate or are based on customer feedback and range from welcoming customers to serving the perfect first drink. Social media feedback has improved 15 – 20% and the venue is winning more five star reviews than ever. “There’s so much going on in a pub, it’s easy to lose sight of the big picture. A daily obsession is great at energising and focusing the team, ultimately resulting in a higher social media ranking in Liverpool’s competitive, crowded hospitality market,” says Richard.
