Plastic straws are a single use product for many bars, pubs and restaurants yet take centuries to decompose.  Rarely recycled, they end up in landfill or in the oceans.  It is estimated 500 million are thrown away daily adding to the five trillion pieces of plastics found floating offshore.  There is now a growing movement to discourage businesses from automatically providing straws and only to provide paper ones, if asked. 

It is an increasing concern of customers and members of staff. Outlets that ignore these concerns may find themselves in the spotlight, facing uncomfortable questioning down the road.  So, if you haven’t already looked at this matter, could you help make a difference by leading the way and introducing your own policy on this important issue?
