Eastenders star visits the Station Bar & Grill in Lytham St Annes

Eastenders star Cheryl Fergison, paid a visit to the Station Bar & Grill in Lytham St Annes

The investment has been undertaken by the pub‘s new operator Kenny Watson, and Star Pub & Bars and has also included redecorating the interior, installing a new kitchen and barista quality coffee machine and replacing the toilets. To build on the venue’s reputation for live music and attract top acts from around the UK, a new stage has been added and the sound system upgraded.

Formerly part of the station, the building dates back to 1846 and became a pub in 1986. The work has involved six months collaboration with Fylde Borough Council to ensure it complements the building’s historic architecture.

Paul Walker, Fylde Borough Council ‘s Director of Development Services and Councillor Ray Thomas joined Cheryl at the Station Pub & Grill for a launch event to mark its new direction.

Says Kenny, a life-long resident of the Fylde coast, “I remember the Station in its hey day and it has been sad to see it fall from favour. It’s an amazing building in a great location. I want to make it a credit to Lytham St Annes once again and we’ve worked closely with the Council and the Friends of Lytham Railway Station to revive the pub. It’s been fantastic to have had their support and great to get the final seal of approval from Cheryl as a former regular of one of the country’s most famous pubs! ”

Kenny says he wants the Station to offer “something for the whole community”. As well as achieving Cask Marque accreditation for the pub’s cask ale quality, Kenny has also brought in a new menu of freshly prepared food which uses local suppliers wherever possible, introduced cocktails and a new wine list and added Sky Sports.

The Station’s hours will be extended from the start of December opening at 10am to serve breakfast and brunch and closing at 1am.

Adds David Pritchard Star Pubs & Bars Operations Director, “Kenny is a highly experienced hospitality operator and we’re delighted to have invested in the Station’s future with him. The Station will offer entertainment, food and drink to compete with the best in Manchester and Liverpool without people needing to leave Lytham St Annes.”
