Cook off creates a stir

To raise awareness of his rural pub, The White Bull in Gisburn, and strengthen customer and supplier relations, multiple operator, Alex Coward organised a cook-off between the pub’s chef and chefs from his other nearby pubs. Each cooked one course and wines from a local wine provider were matched to every dish. For £39.95 a head, customers received a four-course meal and a small glass of wine at the ticketed event and the chance to vote for their favourite dish.  Alex said: “45 people came on a Thursday night. It was great fun - staff loved it because it was exciting, and we had really positive feedback from customers. It’s well worth doing for everybody involved and something we’ll definitely repeat. For anyone considering it, just ensure chefs cook tried and tested dishes they know well.”
