The Beech Tree re-opens following major refurbishment

The Beech Tree on the Amersham Road, High Wycombe re-opened this week following a four week closure and a major £190K investment to transform the ‘summer’ pub into a pub for all seasons, offering good food and great teas and coffees throughout the day.

The refurbishment has retained the pub’s traditional feel whilst giving it a new facelift and fresh smart décor, bringing it in line with the good food and improved standards offered by new licensee, Samir Patel.  Changes to the pub include the redecoration of the conservatory to create a dining and function room for meetings and celebrations, a new bar counter and the opening up of the interior to create a spacious open plan bar and seating area with a welcoming open fire.

The outside of the pub has also had a facelift with the addition of a white picket fence at the front, improved terracing and new seating.  Two new play areas with new play equipment have been created, one for young children and one for six year olds and over.

As a result of the refurbishment and the introduction of food seven jobs have been created at the pub.

Prior to taking on The Beech Tree, Samir held management positions in Macdonalds, Subway and for specialist tea and coffee shop outlets, Tea Monkey, and is keen to instill high service standards.

Says Samir:  “I’d been looking for a pub to take on for some time.  The moment I saw The Beech Tree, I knew it was the place for me and that it could become the type of family pub I wanted to run.  I have always liked the area as I have friends living in and near High Wycombe."

"What it lacked was investment, which it is getting from Star Pubs & Bars and myself, and tender loving care.  It now offers the good food and facilities that families, residents and businesses in the area want.  And with my experience customers can be assured of some of the best tea and coffee in the area and great service at all times."

"I think the role of pub landlord will suit me down to the ground as I love chatting to people and like helping people have a good time.  My family and I are looking forward to becoming part of the community and my children are thrilled to bits at the new play facilities.”

Says Chris Jowsey, trading director of Star Pubs & Bars, HEINEKEN’s pub business:  “We’re delighted that an experienced operator like Samir has taken on The Beech Tree and that together we are investing in its long term future. To be successful in today’s market, pubs must improve their offering to customers and this means investing in pubs like The Beech Tree to create a welcoming and relevant environment for all customers.”
